Wingsuit BASE Alpinism // How I do it

Updated: Oct 3

Finding reliable information about wingsuit BASE jumping combined with alpinism can be challenging, so this is the video I wish I had when I was starting out.

As I mentioned in the video, this is simply how I do it, and it doesn’t mean you should follow my advice blindly. Put yourself in the position to make inform decision.

Here is the detailed gear list mentioned in the video:

  • Suit: Aura 5 Squirrel with Light or Alpinist fabric and the mega storage option

  • Container and canopy: Cirrus + Ibex Ultra light

  • All around alpinism shoes: Ribelle Scarpa

  • Approach shoes: not in production anymore

  • Warm alpinism shoes:Phantom Scarpa

  • Crampons: grivel steel

  • Crampons: petzl Irvis hybrid

  • Lightweight crampons pouch Petzl

  • Ice axe: Gully Petzl

  • Trekking pole: Mont Blanc Carbon Gipron

  • Harness: Altitud Petzl

  • Belay device

  • Quick draws & Sling

  • Friends

  • Nuts

  • Rescue crevasse kit: Edelrid Spoc (make sure it is compatible with the diameter of your rope), ice screw, prussik

  • Rope: Gully Beal

  • Escaper Beal

  • Simond Makalu Backpack

  • Helmet: Penta Singing Rock

  • Range finder: Unieye HK1800

  • GPS com: Garmin Inreach

Keep in mind that some of the techniques and gear I describe are not recommended by the brands that sell them, and buying a bunch of gear doesn’t replace the necessary training to make good decisions in the mountains. I strongly advise against attempting any wingsuit base jumps or climbs without the proper expertise, equipment, and guidance. Always prioritize safety, seek professional instruction, and play the long game.

If you think wingsuit BASE jumping is dangerous, wait until you spend enough time in high mountains; alpinism introduces a whole new level of risk to deal with.

Good luck out there!
